Fiserv, Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV), the leading global provider of financial services technology solutions, and WorkLight, a global leader in multi-channel application technology, are teaming to help financial institutions deliver financial services applications and widgets to an expanding variety of customer touchpoints, including social network sites, desktop computers, tablets and smartphones. This cross-platform application development capability will allow banks and credit unions to extend new and existing banking and payments "apps" to multiple environments beyond their traditional online or mobile presence.

Under the terms of the agreement, Fiserv will use the WorkLight Platform to build, run and manage applications, both custom and packaged, for desktop computers, tablets, smartphones, and other emerging devices. Initially, the two companies will focus on the delivery of lightweight, toolkit payment applications for gifting, alerts, and donations that will complement existing Fiserv products and services. Over time, the companies expect to enable a broad range of solutions for banking as well.

Use of the WorkLight technology will enable Fiserv and its financial institution clients to meet the challenge of developing services for a proliferating variety of online and mobile platforms and devices. With WorkLight, an application written for one platform can be quickly and efficiently adapted to run in additional environments, streamlining the development process and speeding time to market.

"The ways in which consumers connect with their financial institutions have been revolutionized during the past decade," said Erich Litch, SVP and GM, Consumer Services, Fiserv. "As devices and means of access proliferate, financial institutions are compelled to deliver services to consumers wherever they are, whenever it is convenient for them. We’re helping our clients provide financial services in new ways, through new channels, and to go quickly to market by building and managing rich applications using WorkLight."

"The pervasiveness and growth of new end-user devices and computing experiences present not only a significant business opportunity but also an increasing technical challenge for banks, as they struggle to keep up with the latest and most popular touch-points," said Shahar Kaminitz, CEO of WorkLight. "We’re pleased to work together with Fiserv to meet this challenge and enable innovative new applications and services that are optimized for each environment and device."

WorkLight’s platform is used to create, deliver and manage cross-platform applications. It includes the WorkLight Studio for native and web application development, the WorkLight Server for secure delivery, deployment and back-end integration with enterprise systems and the WorkLight Console for ongoing management and tracking of adoption and usage of the applications.

Fiserv, the leading global provider of information management and electronic commerce systems for the financial services industry, has 16,000 customers worldwide, including banks, credit unions, thrifts, mortgage lenders, leasing companies, brokerage and investment firms, as well as other business clients.
